Songs Worth Your Time: Eliza Hull

I’m really excited to share 'Hotel Room.' It was recorded in London with producer James Knight (The Kooks, Ellie Goulding), and honestly, the whole thing came together in this intense, electric rush. We only had half a day together, and I arrived with just the bare bones of the song. James works so instinctively - every idea felt immediate, alive, and emotionally charged - which perfectly matched what the song was trying

to say.

Lyrically, ‘Hotel Room’ captures a moment of unraveling. I’m overseas, alone in a hotel room, spiralling through this reckoning with myself. The lyrics are brutally honest: breaking myself down until I feel numb, wondering how to find my way back.

That idea became the heart of the music video. It begins with me trapped in this lonely hotel room, questioning everything, but by the end I return home, crawl into bed, and embrace another version of myself. We worked with a special effects artist to create two versions of me on screen, because I wanted the ending to feel powerful and unexpected. This isn’t a story about waiting to be rescued by someone else - it’s about trying to reconnect with your own inner self after feeling completely lost.

‘Hotel Room’ is probably one of the most vulnerable songs I’ve ever written, but also one of the most freeing. It's been beautiful to hear people's love for the song.

This feels deeply atmospheric and emotional. The restraint in the production makes the lyrics land even harder. I have loved this song for a while now! Mathilde is an artist with a disability.

Asha Jefferies – Backwards Baby

I keep coming back to this one for its honesty. It feels like someone thinking out loud in real time. It's produced by Tom Iansek - and I love the production choices. I have been playing this song soooo much lately!

Kate Miller-Heidke – Holiday

A stunning balance of playfulness and emotional depth. It’s clever, and funny!

Sarah Blasko – Forgotten World

I love Sarah's voice so much, I really connect with. It feels expansive and intimate at the same time. I got to tour with Sarah recently and it was a dream come true!

Nat Luna – Levitating

This has a sexy quality that I love. She has so much sass! Nat is a disabled artist who I absolutely adore!

Charlie Lane - Fifty Shades of Bruised

Charlie is a great artist and disability advocate and this is my favourite track of hers - so excited for new music from her!

Kaiyah Mercedes - Miss Me

A new one from Kaiyah - I love her songwriting and her voice is incredible!!! Excited to see where she goes!

Ruth Lyon - Wickerman

One of my favourite artists of all time. I am touring with her later this year in the UK which is exciting! She is such a great songwriter and performer.
