West Australian folk duo Whiskey Jack and Kiera Jas unite on their joyous and whimsy new single ‘Remain Strange’. An ode to the spark of new friendships and the courage to stay authentic, the track celebrates the beauty of embracing what makes each of us unique. ‘Remain Strange’ follows the duo’s 2025 collaborative single ‘Old Expressions’.

WHISKEY JACK's TOP 5

Lou Hazel - Riot of the Red -

The whole album is great, it was my top rotation in 2025. no skips, settle in and let it play!

Haley Heynderickx - Foxglove

The centre piece of this song is the twirling of a flower, something we've all done. bulsted under a hooky guitar riff and a train groove - I like that

Hannah Cohen - Mountain

Fleetwood mac vibes. This is one of those songs that feel like two, there's a change halfway through and it scratches an itch.

Jake Xerxes Fussell - Three Ravens

Sometimes you need something instrumental, peaceful and easy. Jake is steeped in the folk tradition and is one of the best pickers IMO

Wilderado - Longstanding Misunderstanding

Beautiful song, it's hard to put my finger on why I love it so much. It feels nostalgic and reassuring like the last warmth of a sunset. Again, killer album

KIERA JAS' TOP 5

Vampire Weekend - Unbelievers

I still remember the first time my Mum played Vampire Weekend for me in the car. I was about 14 years old and absolutely fell in love - definitely my first “band-love.” This song makes me wanna dance around the loungeroom as soon as I hear those glorious thumps and synths!! So so good. Still listen to Vampire Weekend weekly.

Kiera Jas  - Hum & Drum

This song has a little bit of a Vampire Weekend influence with a folk-pop feel. I love that the main instrument is ukulele, which is how I discovered my love for songwriting at a young age. I highly recommend humming along for when you need a little heart boost.

Mon Rovia  - Rust

A recent discovery and I am so glad about it. Mon Rovia also plays the ukulele, and I just love how he sets up this song describing a light-filled morning in the kitchen - you can picture everything perfectly. Might be one of my favourite love-songs.

Matt Corby  - Reelin’

I love Matt Corby! The lyrics in this tune really get you thinking deep - perfect for the long car drives. His live show is transformational - I’d love to write/and or perform with this legend one day.

Angie McMahon - Music’s Coming In

This song (and whole album) makes you realise that we are all here to heal, and we can be there for each other in so many different ways. Every element in this song is purposeful and I really love how Angie gently builds it with the choir. Beautiful.
